MD5 COM component manual
Manual for the free MD5 COM component

The message digest algorithm was developed by Professor Ronald L. Rivest of MIT. 'The MD5 algorithm is intended for digital signature applications, where a large file must be "compressed" in a secure manner before being encrypted with a private (secret) key under a public-key cryptosystem such as RSA.' MD5 is a hash, i.e it is not reversible without a lot of effort.

All methods except Encrypt are not used. If you wonder why you do not get a 32 character hex output it is because the program converts the hex into an ASCII string. The string may be converted back to hex by calculating the hex decimal version of each character in the returned string and appending it to an output.

Methods
MD5.Encrypt(hashtthis As String) Encrypts the specified hashthis string.
